The second phase of the modernisation project for the coastal path from Arguineguín to Anfi beach now has €1.8m of funding in place and is due to start in the summer of 2018.
The improvements to the La Lajilla natural pool and beach that make up phase one of the project are now almost complete.
The funds come from the Canary Islands Tourist Infrastructure Department (Infraestructuras Turísticas del Gobierno de Canarias).
Phase two covers the 272 metres between La Lajilla and small sand and pebble Playa de La Carrera beach. It includes repaving the path, new benches and seating, and strengthening the seawall to prevent future damage.
The project also includes improvements to La Carrera beach such as more sand, bathroom facilities, disabled access ramps, and a lookout point.
