Blue Flag Beaches in the Canary Islands 2025: a Guarantee of Quality and a Privilege to Enjoy All Year Round

Published in Living in Gran Canaria, News

Every year, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) awards the international Blue Flag distinction to beaches and marinas that meet the highest standards of quality. In 2025, the Canary Islands received a total of 47 Blue Flags, a recognition that highlights the excellence of our coasts and reinforces the appeal of living or spending holidays here.

What does a Blue Flag mean?

The Blue Flag is an international quality label that ensures a beach meets demanding standards in four key areas:

  • Excellent bathing water quality, according to European regulations.

  • Environmental management, with clean, well-kept and sustainable beaches.

  • Safety and services, including lifeguards, accessibility, and proper facilities.

  • Information and environmental education, with signage and activities promoting respect for nature.
