Since 2006 the Town Hall of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria organizes such a beautiful event. More than 300 tones of sand where used by numerous artists of different countries of all over the World. I have not seen it yet but I did last year and I really recommend it. After ut you can walk at the nice promenade and have lunch or just a nice "cortado" (Expresso).
