Mogán Carnival 2018 Dates & Highlights

Here are the dates and highlights of the Mogán carnival 2018. This year there are local events in all the main villages in the Mogán municipality as well as the main carnival in Arguineguín.

Village carnivals in Mogan

The first is called the "Carnaval de Barrios" and takes place between February 9 and March 4. Each village in the municipality has a children's costume party with traditional carnival pancakes, followed by a concert. These events are for locals but everyone is, of course, invited to come and enjoy the fun. The following places have Carnaval de Barrio events in 2018: Motor Grande, Veneguera, Las Filipinas, Playa de Mogán, El Horno, Baranquillo Andrés y Soria, and Mogán town. Main Mogán carnival 2018

The main Mogán carnival takes place between the 20-25 of February 2018. The theme, chosen via a public vote, is Comics and Superheroes. Here are the main events and highlights... See the official Mogan carnival 2018 program here.

Tuesday 20

The Mogán carnival 2018 starts off at 20.00 with a body painting competition on the main carnival stage in Arguineguín.

Wednesday 21

At 20:00 the main Carnival Gala starts with music and performances from local art schools and bands.

Thursday 22

The Drag Queen Gala starts at 9:00 p.m with 10 drags competing for the prize of best queen. Brazilian artist Marcelo Kaufman and singers MLOU also perform.

Friday 23

At 20:00 the "Pelucas party" starts with performances by jugglers, acrobats and stiltwalkers along with live music. The party goes on until 01.00 with a concert by Güira Latina.

Saturday 24

The Costa Mogán 2018 Carnival Parade begins at 19.00 and includes dancing and drumming troupes, and floats. It starts at El Timonel and goes along Francisco Navarro street and then Miguel Marrero street until it ends at José Manuel Santana street. After the parade, there's a street party or mogollón with live music.

Sunday 25

The Children's Costume Festival starts at 17.30 with traditional pancakes and hot chocolate and performances for the kids. The final event, the burial of the sardine parade, starts at 20.30 and ends with a firework display.
