Ryanair launches 16 new Gran Canaria routes

Published in Living in Gran Canaria, News

Gran Canaria is such a beautiful island, it's good to invite as many people as possible to see for themselves. The new winter schedule for low cost airline  Ryanair does just that with 16 new routes. The UK is well served by the new schedule, but it also opens up several other European countries, adding to the multi cultural mix that makes Gran Canaria such a pleasant place to live. The new routes run to and from Barcelona (Girona), Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Brussels, Dublin, Duesseldorf, East Midlands, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Liverpool, London - Stanstead, London -Luton, Madrid, Oporto, Shannon. The welcome move has been made possible with the help of AENA, the Spanish airport authority, they have scrapped their airport charges to encourage Ryanair to use the Canary Islands to a greater extent. The new routes will run initially from October 2009 to March 2010, and hopefully beyond that if they are well received. It's a great boost for holiday makers, who can now reduce their travel times before take off, and also a big encouragement for investors who are looking to buy a home in Gran Canaria. The weather and relaxed way of life has always been a big draw, but now the ease of commuting between their UK or European base, and their new sunshine home, is another great reason to make that big move.
