Sports Marina in Meloneras

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="500"]Maspalomas & Meloneras Maspalomas & Meloneras[/caption] Group Lopesan have announced that before the end of this year they hope to commence the building work of the Sports Marina in Meloneras. Its aim is to improve the comfort and access of the tourists and will include 500 berths. An investment of 30 to 40 million Euros will be used and will create approx. 200 direct jobs as well as indirect jobs from investment groups. Approval has been granted by the Canarian Department of territorial policy and only awaits the required submission & approval of the environmental impact study. Designed by an American firm the project is the first of its kind in the municipal of San Bartolome de Tirajana and the location next to the luxury hotels is ideal. Improvements will also be made to Meloneras beach and the beach in Pasito Blanco and other projects being considered include an Aquarium and new parking facilities. The sports marina is the long awaited part of the plan for Meloneras golf and was included in the original project of Maspalomas Costa Canaria some 50 years ago.
