Great news for all! Plans approved for a train service between Las Palmas, the airport and Maspalomas. On Monday the advisory council of the government of Gran Canaria approved the plans for a train service between Las Palmas, the airport and Maspalomas. The municipalities to which the train route will pass by are the capital Las Palmas, Telde, Valsequillo, Ingenio, Aguimes, Santa Lucia, and San Bartolome de Tirajana. Apart from easing congestion from the roads which carry an estimated 12 million passengers each year the government's aim is also to improve public transport by introducing a fast, comfortable and reliable service which will benefit residents and holiday makers alike by offering further means of transport for recreational or business purposes.
